About the tour
Your guide will take you on a pleasant and relaxing day, dedicated to the discovery of flavors, sights, and history of this area, between the Valdichiana and the Val d’Orcia. After meeting your guide, the tour starts from Montepulciano, a charming medieval and Renaissance town, home of Vino Nobile and famous for its cultural and gastronomic initiatives. During the walk you can admire some of the most beautiful town palaces, enclosed by imposing medieval town walls. A short transfer will take to Pienza – famous for the production of local pecorino cheese – that Pope Pius the Second had it rebuilt to create the “ideal city” of the Renaissance. Here you can enjoy a particularly beautiful view of rugged and beautiful Val d’Orcia. Finally, the day includes a visit to Montalcino, home of the celebrated Brunello grape. Starting from the fortress you will reach Piazza Garibaldi and the Romanesque-Gothic church of Sant’Egidio. The tour continues through Piazza del Popolo, dominated by the tower of the Palazzo del Priore, a lodge and other buildings from the late Middle Ages.
