About the tour
The day begins with a visit to Castellina in Chianti, a charming medieval village. The only surviving part of the ancient city walls is the characteristic covered walkway, called the Via delle Volte, lined with some typical shops and restaurants. From the embrasures, you can enjoy a splendid view of the Chianti. Inside Palazzo Squarcialupi there is a sort of “wine museum” that also works as a historical archive for the preservation of the original features of the Chianti Classico. After leaving Castellina, Greve is the next stop, in the heart of Chianti, with its charming old market square surrounded by a colonnade. Near Greve is the castle that was the birthplace of the Florentine explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano, where you can visit the cellars and have a stop either for a tasting or lunch. With your guide you can decide whether to organize an half day or a full day tour, with the addition of local museums or other places (such as Radda and Gaiole).
