About the tour
Perched on a hill from where you can enjoy a splendid view over the Val d’Orcia and the Valdichiana and sealed by its mighty walls, Montepulciano retains all the features of the city since Middle Age and Renaissance. With your guide, departing from Porta al Prato or Porta delle Farine, you will visit Piazza Grande, the heart of the city. The square is overlooked by the Town Hall, the Cathedral, the Tarugi Palace, and Contucci Palace, with its suggestive monumental cellars. During the walk in the historical center, you can also see Avignonesi Palace, the church of Sant’Agostino, the fortress and the church of Santa Maria dei Servi. In addition, outside the city walls, you can visit the beautiful Renaissance church of San Biagio. In summertime, there are numerous folkloristic initiatives, such as the race called “Bravìo delle Botti“, the “International Yard of Art” and the “Bruscello“, a typical popular type of theatrical performance.
