About the tour
Meet your local guide by Porta Bifora, the main gate of the Etruscan city walls, or on top of the hill occupied by Cortona, just in front of the Santuario di Santa Margherita. The visit will take you through a charming stroll in the dense warren of medieval streets of the city center, to discover the many treasures preserved here. Along the way you can see the birthplace of Pietro da Cortona and the church of S. Francesco. Then walk to Piazza della Repubblica, dominated by the medieval Palazzo Comunale, Palazzo Casali, historical residence of the noble family from Cortona which now houses the Museum of the Etruscan Academy, the Cathedral and the Diocesan Museum, where works by famous artists such as Luca Signorelli, Pietro Lorenzetti and Bartolomeo della Gatta, as well as one of the most beautiful Annunciation by Fra Angelico are exposed. Your local guide also will accompany you to the scenic spots where you can enjoy the beautiful view over the Chiana Valley, Monte Amiata and Trasimeno Lake.
