About the tour
As a real jewel of the Casentino, Poppi is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The medieval village is dominated by the Castle of Conti Guidi, which in the past had an important strategic role. The castle dates back to the thirteenth century and is a popular tourist destination. On the inside, the Rilliana Library is very interesting; it houses 25,000 ancient volumes, the festival hall and the Conti Guidi chapel, entirely frescoed in the fourteenth century. In the borough, we report the church of S. Fedele with its impressive architectural structure dating back to the thirteenth century and the works of art housed inside. Other stops of the visit are the church of SS. Marco and Lorenzo and the Oratory of the Madonna del Morbo. However the whole walk into the borough is very pleasant, with a lot of porticoed streets as well as scenic spots with beautiful views on the Casentino valley.
