About the tour
Situated on a hill a few kilometers from the center of Florence, Fiesole offers opportunities to visit the historic ruins of the ancient Etruscan and Roman city, fine medieval buildings that conserve important art works and a wonderful walk through gardens and villas that enjoy spectacular views over the city of Florence. Among the main places of interest, your guide will show you the 3,000 seats Roman theater, the baths, the Etruscan-Roman temples and the site of the Etruscan acropolis, where during the Middle Ages were built the church, the convent and cloisters of San Francis. In Piazza Mino da Fiesole arise the Praetorian Palace, the ancient church of Santa Maria Primerana, the Palace and the Episcopal Seminary and the Romanesque cathedral of St. Romulus, founded in 1028, which contains works by Mino da Fiesole, Bicci di Lorenzo, and other . Those interested could also include a visit to the Archaeological Museum which houses many artefacts found on the hill of Fiesole.
