About the tour
This specific tour intends to accompany the traveler through the most valuable works by Piero della Francesca left in the Arezzo area. The tour starts from the Cappella Maggiore of the church of San Francesco in Arezzo, where you can admire the magnificent frescoes of the Stories of the True Cross, which the artist began in 1452. The visit continues by transferring in Monterchi, where a specially crafted museum houses the Madonna del Parto, initially destined to a small country church at the foot of Monterchi. The work is very considerable and is not known why the artist has made it for a location so lost; as well as the client of the work is not known. Moreover, even the customer who commissioned the work is still unknown. The last stop is Sansepolcro, in the Civic Museum, which houses works by many artists, among which stand for the importance Polyptych of Mercy and the Resurrection by Piero della Francesca.
