About the tour
The focus of this tour is the Palatine Gallery, hosted on the first floor of Palazzo Pitti, used as a residence by the Grand Dukes of Tuscany and later by the King of Italy. During the eighteenth century, members of the Lorraine family gathered here a large number of works of art, mainly coming from the collections of the Medicis. Some of them are masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rubens, Lippi, Botticelli, Pontormo and many others. By number and relevance of paintings on display, this is one of Italy’s most important exhibition centers. On the same floor, also, your guide will show you the splendid royal apartments of the palace. The second part of the tour includes a walk through the enchanting Boboli Gardens, behind Palazzo Pitti. Accompanied by explanations by your tourist guide, visiting this splendid example of Italian gardens, you can admire the amphitheater, the Garden of Knight, the Grotta del Buontalenti, the Kaffeehaus, the Fountain of Neptune and the famous cypresses avenue.
