TOUR 29 – SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA AND BAGNO VIGNONI

Itinerary
Your guide will lead to the discovery of San Quirico d’Orcia, a charming medieval town situated along the ancient Via Francigena, which was the center of reception and passage of pilgrims to Rome for several centuries. The center of San Quirico is dominated by the Romanesque Collegiate Church of Saints Quirico and Giuditta, with two portals adorned with zoomorphic sculptures, one of which is attributed to the workshop of Giovanni Pisano. After a short walk along the main street you get to “Piazza della Libertà” where the church of San Francesco is set, and then continue towards the “Horti Leonini”, which are an exemplary model of Renaissance gardens. Leaving San Quirico, a short drive will take you to Bagno Vignoni, a tiny village characterized by the presence of a thermal spring, already been renowned in Roman times. Here the main square consists of a hot water spa which is surrounded by all the most important buildings, including the church of St. John the Baptist.

Buonconvento and San Quirico and Bagno Vignoni, 6 hours.
