TOUR 07 – SIENA, city tour

Itinerary
Siena, whose old town is UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers to the visitor a large amount of historic buildings that tell the evolution of the city through its long history, which originates during the Etruscan age. During the tour you can admire the Basilica of San Domenico, which houses the relics of St. Catherine, and the Cathedral of the Assumption, with its famous floor and works by artists such as Donatello, Michelangelo, Bernini, and Nicola and Giovanni Pisano. Following the route of the ancient “Via Francigena” in the dense and fascinating maze of medieval streets and alleys you will pass by Palazzo Salimbeni, Piazza Tolomei and the Chigi Academy. Last but not least, the visit to the heart of Siena, “Piazza del Campo”. Here takes place the famous Palio horse race, during which the 17 city districts challenge each other. The square is also lined with some of the most important buildings of the city, such as the “Palazzo Pubblico”, where the majestic Mangia Tower stands. With your guide you can choose to visit the interior of the Cathedral or the Civic Museum inside “Palazzo Pubblico”.
