TOUR 04 – FLORENCE, Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens
The tour focuses on the Palatine Gallery, located on the first floor of Pitti Palace, used as a residence by the Grand Dukes of Tuscany and later by the King of Italy. During the eighteenth century, members of the Lorraine family gathered here a large number of works of art, mainly coming from the collections of the Medici. Here you can admire masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rubens, Lippi, Botticelli, Pontormo, and many others. By number and relevance of paintings on display, this is one of Italy’s most important exhibition centers. On the same floor, also, your guide will show you the splendid royal apartments of the palace. The second part of the tour includes a walk through the beautiful Boboli Gardens, which extend behind Palazzo Pitti. Accompanied by explanations by your tour guide, you will visit this splendid example of Italian gardens where you can admire the amphitheater, the Garden of Knight, the Grotta del Buontalenti, the Kaffeehaus, the Fountain of Neptune and the famous cypresses avenue.
